New York's closed streets

Blog | By James Fletcher | Jun 30, 2020

With an eventual aim of 100 miles of NYC streets, the city currently closes 67 miles of streets between 8am and 8pm. The idea is to encourage social distancing. The stretched NYPD has not been able to strictly enforce these measures, but barriers seem to remain in place, allowing cyclists, impromptu games, and other forms of exercise to take place. The effectiveness of the scheme is questionable, but the intention is well-meant. Google maps clearly indicate Open Streets with a dotted blue line.
