"The Oldie is an incredible magazine - perhaps the best magazine in the world right now" Graydon Carter, founder of Air Mail and former Editor of Vanity Fair
James Pembroke is publisher of The Oldie. He first worked for the magazine for five years from just after its launch in 1992, and returned in April 2007, having set up his own contract publishing business, James Pembroke Publishing, which is now run by far more impressive people in Bath and London.
He is also The Oldie’s restaurant reviewer; his memoir/history, Growing Up in Restaurants, a History of Eating Out in Britain from 55BC to Nowadays was published in 2013. He is still hopeful that his royalties will cover his share of the cost of the cheap wine-only launch party.See all contributors
