Grim times for New York hotels

The Soho Grand is a landmark hotel which opened in 1996. It has 353 rooms and has been closed since the COVID lockdown. This is one of many businesses really suffering across the city. Furloughed low wage employees are likely to have sought alternative employment, which makes the re-opening of large concerns all the more difficult as they are likely to need a large staff training programme with new hires. In addition, they fear for their ability to attract visitors to a city with limited theatre capacity, restaurants operating at 25% capacity, and many other attractions similarly reduced.
