Some weeks ago, I posted an image showing the aerosol painters had arrived to cover up the angry messages on various shops. F the police etc had given way to a hastily sprayed floral something. Street art has now given way to the real deal. No longer a preserve of a reformed graffiti artist, here a gentleman is slowly creating a wall of recognisable characters wearing the mandatory mask. He tells me the shops will be closed for some time and that he’s enjoying a new canvas. As compulsory mask wear kicks in at home, New Yorkers are fully committed to the garment - and one hears and sees evidence of colour coordination with the outfit of the day. It’s assumed they will be part of our wardrobe for some time to come.
