New York's mobile barber

Blog | By James Fletcher | Jul 31, 2020

While barbers are technically allowed to open, the owner of this vessel tells me that the non-essential retail status (still not cleared to open) means a deserted high street with little to zero passing trade. And with his illuminated sign optimistically perched on the tarmac, this barber has taken to the road and offers an almost full complement of services to different neighbourhoods on different days. Naturally, he’s counting on the leniency of local authorities not to negate his earnings with a parking ticket or other citation. Restarting the economy in semi-lockdown is akin to starting a fire with damp wood... and for now, it seems, we’re all in it together.
