The Lady in the Van – in Greenwich Village

In a scene redolent of The Lady in the Van, there is a corner of the West Village where this character has been living in this minibus for over 15 years, yards from multi million dollar homes. And his presence is accepted as part of village life. He’s been featured in various magazines and newspapers. I just can’t imagine the same thing happening in a quiet corner of Kensington - truculent residents and a no-nonsense council wouldn’t stand for it. It’s always interesting to compare the things you’d never get away with in London with the same in New York…
