Thursday 24th December
Oh my God, in thee all my hope I set, Father of the heav’ns, my living hope yet, My great hope with myself that I may be In the far world that cometh finally.
And so we have reached the end of our advent journey. I hope that you have all the presents ready. It has been a year that has been full of challenge and difficulty. Many of us have lived with great anxiety and a sense of peril and that really is not a good thing at all.
Advent is essentially about hope; the hope that God is and was one of us. We call this the incarnation and to me it is inspiring. The Celtic poet above writes of the Father of the Heavens. On Christmas Eve, the God who made the heavens, the God of power and might was about to become vulnerable and feeble and in this we begin to know that God is for us.
